Flower care guide

To keep your flower bouquet fresh and beautiful for as long as possible, follow these simple tips:

1. Prepare the Bouquet

  • Remove the packaging: If the bouquet came wrapped, it’s best to take off the packaging so the flowers can “breathe.”

  • Trim the stems: Using garden shears or a sharp knife, cut each stem at a 45-degree angle, trimming 1–2 cm. This increases the surface area for water absorption.

  • Remove excess leaves: Strip any leaves from the lower part of the stems that would otherwise sit in the water to prevent rotting.

2. Water and Vase

  • Choose a clean vase: Wash the vase thoroughly before adding water to eliminate bacteria.

  • Add fresh water: Use cool (but not cold) filtered or settled water.

  • Use flower food: If flower food was included with the bouquet, add it to the water. It helps slow bacterial growth and keeps flowers fresh longer.

3. Daily Care

  • Change the water daily: Fresh water prevents bacteria buildup and helps extend the life of the bouquet.

  • Re-cut the stems daily: Trim 1 cm from the bottom of the stems each day to improve water intake.

  • Keep it clean: Remove fallen leaves and petals from the water to avoid decay.

Always cut stems at an angle to help the flowers absorb water better. Use a sharp knife or scissors and avoid crushing or piercing the stems, as this can damage the water vessels and reduce absorption.

4. Placement

  • Avoid direct sunlight: Keep the bouquet away from direct sun and heating sources to prevent drying out.

  • Keep away from fruits: Fruits emit ethylene gas, which speeds up wilting.

  • Avoid drafts: Place the bouquet somewhere with stable temperature and no strong drafts.

By following these guidelines, you’ll extend your bouquet’s freshness and enjoy its beauty longer!

Care Tips for Arrangements in Floral Foam

Arrangements made in floral foam (e.g., baskets, hatboxes, etc.) require minimal effort, as the flowers are placed in a special water-soaked material.

  • Do not remove the flowers from the foam.

  • Do not spray the arrangement with water.

  • Keep it away from heaters and direct sunlight.

The most important rule: keep the foam moist. About every 2 days, gently pour room temperature water over the foam, distributing it evenly between the flowers and greenery.
